How to successfully reduce smog levels?

Smog is becoming a huge problem.

In the recent years, the problem of increasing air pollution has become a concern for most of the cities. The scale of the problem is enormous. Nearly every agglomeration in Poland and in the whole world has to face it rather sooner than later. Smog is the effect of air pollution caused by traffic fumes. It’s presence means that there are chemical particles in the air that can be hazardous to health of the citizens, causing them to get ill from respiratory system failure, tumors and heart diseases. Smog also pollutes soil.

Fortunately, new ways of dealing with smog are developed every day. The simplest one is based on reducing the traffic fumes by modernization of the public transport, promoting cycling and introducing autonomous, electrical vehicles for public use. Exchange of the heating system in households to more modern versions is vital. Education is also a factor in the fight against smog: citizens have to know that their actions (such as burning rubbish) makes the problem worse.

One of the most effective ways of fighting smog is planting new trees. Not only do they fight the pollution, but also prevent the phenomena of urban heat islands. Thanks to photosynthesis, plants and trees transform dangerous carbon dioxide into oxygen.
