EXPO 2029 ŁÓDŹ POLSKA

The most beautiful places in the city.

Urban greenery in Łódź has its roots in the style preferred by rich factory owners in XIX and XX century. They have been creating private parks for their own amusement near their palaces. Later they also established public parks so the factory workers had a place to spend their free time. That’s why you can find green spaces in Łódź even the dense urban landscape, such as Pasaż of Rubinstein or Źródliska Park.

There are 37 parks in Łódź. In of the biggest of them, Park of Prince Józef Poniatowski, you can find 17 natural monuments! It’s a remain of the old wilderness. The other souvenir of that time is the Łagiewnicki forest. It’s the biggest forest area in city’s vicinity in Europe. It hides a secret: a wooden chapel of Saint Anthony, the oldest preserved building in Łódź. Citizens really love the forest. Two trails have been designed: yellow and blue. They can be traveled by foot or on a bicycle

Some parks have been immortalized in literature. Julian Tuwim has been mentioning his walks to Helenów Park in his poems.

Pocket parks are gaining popularity thanks to Zielone Polesie project. Wastelands in the neighborhood have been revitalized so now they can serve the citizens. It was an inspiration for other green projects in Łódź. Those mini parks are a great solutions with scarce greenery, where buildings make it impossible to create large areas of green under blue sky.

Botanical Garden, palm house and the ZOO are a must-see on the city’s green map. Thanks to them people of Łódź have lots of opportunities to spend their weekend outside!
