HOW IS HORTICULTURAL EXPO DIFFERENT FROM OTHER EXPOSITIONS?

As years went by, BIE realized that the themes of EXPOs are incredibly broad. This fact and the unprecedented popularity of exhibitions created a need for a new system of classification. That’s how a few types of EXPOs came to life.

World EXPO

World EXPOs have no limits when it comes to the size of the endeavour. Theme has to be very universal and the exposition lasts for 6 months. Countries participating in the World EXPO usually build their own pavilions on the territory appointed by the hosting country.

International EXPO

International EXPO tackles a very specific subject, usually around the subject of the great challenges of humanity. The space is restricted to 25 ha. The exhibition lasts up to 3 months.

Horitcultural EXPO

So called Green EXPO or Garden EXPO is organized by BIE in coordination with International Association of Horticultural Producer (AIPH). The focus is set on every aspect of agriculture and gardening. The space of the EXPO has to have minimum 50 ha. Horticultural EXPO type A1 happens every 2 years and last for 3 to 6 months.

The Green EXPO is divided into a few categories:

  • A1 (World Large Horticultural Exhibition) – lasts 3-6 months, needs the space of min. 50ha and acceptance of BIE
  • A2 (International Horticultural Exhibition) – 8-20 days, min, 15 000. m2
  • B1 (Horticultural Exhibitions with International Participation) 3-6 months, min. 25 ha
  • B2 (Horticultural Exhibitions with International Participation) – 8-20 days, min. 6 000 m2
  • A2/B1 (Horticultural Exhibition with International Participation) – 3-6 months, min. 25 ha
  • C (International Horticultural Show) – 5-20 days
  • D (International Horticultural Trade Exhibition) – business exposition
