20 ways to save water
20 ways to save water
Water is essential for proper functioning. However, as research shows, almost half of the largest rivers have already been contaminated. Droughts are also becoming a problem, ever more frequent also in Poland. To make matters worse, huge amounts of water are wasted in our households, so you should take interest in the topic and start saving water by taking small steps listed below.
This is how you can save water:
- Start by inspecting the plumbing - this is a basic step to save not only water, but also money. Repairing leaking equipment or replacing it with more ecological solutions will be friendly not only to the environment but also to your wallet.
- Seal leaky taps.
- Use the dishwasher only when it is full.
- Do not set the entire washing cycle only for a few clothes.
- Throw away food residue or tissues into the bin and not into the toilet.
- Take a shower, not a bath
- When you do take a bath, pour less water into the bathtub.
- Choose a washing machine with an eco program.
- Use sprinklers instead of a garden hose.
- When washing the car, use water poured into the bucket.
- Install the aerator in the tap - this small net put in the tap will optically increase the water flow and prevent it from splashing.
- Turn off the water when shaving or brushing your teeth.
- Do not wash the dishes in running water, do it in the sink moderately filled with water.
- Do not water the garden with tap water, use rainwater.
- Rinse fruit and vegetables in a sink or pot filled with water, not in running water.
- When boiling products in a pot, pour only enough water to cover them.
- Let very dirty dishes soak in water for a while, do not scrub them in running water.
- Wash your hands under a gentle stream.
- Mount a single handle mixer - it takes longer to adjust the water temperature with the two handles!
- Choose a toilet cistern with a dual flush push button.
