Green walls or the innumerable benefits of vertical gardens

Green walls or the innumerable benefits of vertical gardens

In the urban space we are more and more aware of the lack of vegetation. However, today we are no longer condemned to concrete walls - green walls, sometimes called vertical gardens - are an advantageous option. How do they come to be, why they are so interesting and useful?

How is this possible?

A vertical garden can be created on virtually any wall using special suspensions and fixings. Importantly, such gardens appear both on the façades and inside buildings, and their surface areas can surprise you! In interiors of buildings, the vertical garden should be lit with lamps, thanks to which the vivid images will always look beautiful and develop well. External walls, despite sub-zero temperatures in winter, can delight with green even all year long.

Countless benefits

Vertical gardens not only look phenomenal, but also have many other advantages:

  • Improve well-being – green calms and accelerates regenerative processes in the body, thus making us friendlier to the surroundings. Especially when we encounter a beautiful oasis in the urban, gray jungle.
  • Purify the air – plants absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen, so it's no wonder that they are often used to fight smog.
  • Provide a sound barrier – the green wall reduces the noise level even by half. Just like a forest blocking sounds from the road next to it!
  • Increase work efficiency – it has been proven that thanks to green gardens in the office, the productivity of employees can increase by as much as 15%.
  • Heal – in the green area infections are less frequent.
  • Testify to care for the environment and interest in ecology – these are desirable features nowadays, building good relations with the environment, being a clear signal that people care about the environment.
  • Are highly self-sufficient – do not need much care or watering.
  • Collect water – vertical outdoor gardens collect rainwater and clean it. Thus they provide more humid air. Studies have shown that sometimes they can also dry the walls of buildings.
  • Provide shelter for animals – external walls are a nice change from concrete walls, which is appreciated by birds and insects.

This new trend is slowly becoming popular. Soon, it can become part of private, office and public spaces. It guarantees not only aesthetic pleasure, but also a number of health and ecological benefits.
