Recycling of clothes, or more about containers for clothes

Recycling of clothes, or more about containers for clothes

Polish Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that have been operating in Poland for a hundred years. As an international organization, Polish Red Cross helps not only the poor, providing them with a decent living conditions, but also provides help in the even of disasters, armed conflicts or natural disasters.

Polish Red Cross containers for clothes are one of the ways to help and are located in 16 Polish provinces. Few people know that you can dispose mascots, bedding and shoes. The idea behind the campaign is to help the poor and support ecology, maintaining the cleanliness of towns and villages. The concept of Polish Red Cross is increasingly being challenged, as it’s believed that aid is not the purpose of the organization. Some say that they earn money. How does it really look like?

Help above all

Indeed, the organization sells some clothes and other textiles, but the profit goes to the people who need help. The collected amount is 100% used for statutory objectives, projects and educational goals (e.g. campaign to fight hunger).

A large part of the clothes brought to the containers is not suitable to be worn, because of being dirty and damaged. Those are recycled. Companies determine what to do with them. Most clothes are used for industrial purposes (e.g. to make cleaning rags), and some goes to second-hand shops.

In summary, clothes or other textiles thrown into containers can be sold by the Red Cross, but the profits will be used to help the needy in your area. By throwing clothes into a container, you also help the planet. Clothes that go directly to the dump decompose, thus polluting the environment.
